Contacting Them

Safeguarding is very important for everyone involved. This means that everyone has the responsibility to report any concerns that they may have about a child or an adult.

It is very important to report these concerns to MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub). You can do this by phoning them: 0345 155 1071 or by emailing them: mashsecure@devon.gov.uk.

About MASSH

MASSH is the main safeguarding hub for all safeguarding and child protection as a resource for protection enquiries and referrals. They ensure that early intervention is taken for as soon as they are given the referral. They will take it upon them to assess the enquiry and work to prevent further harm and risk to welfare.

The MASSH team is built up of a range of professionals from different groups of agencies, such as the police, domestic abuse service, health, mental health, education, early years and social care services. As a group, they will review the cases and work out how to best support the families and meet the child's needs.

The benefits of the multi agency approach is that it has proven to provide more effective and earlier intervention to support children in vulnerable positions.

MASSH 4 Key Principles

  • Children are best brought up in families, with local support when needed.
  • We support families to find their own solutions, building on strengths and finding solutions to whatever difficulties they are confronting to be resilient, improve family life and increase opportunities for their children.
  • Children who need protection will receive it; wherever possible, early help will prevent the need for statutory intervention in family life.
  • Timely permanent arrangements will be secured for children who can’t be brought up in their birth family.

Early Help and Support

What is Early Help

As well as safeguarding concerns, it is also important to access early support and help when it is needed. At Joyful Journeys, we are happy to support you and provide advice and guidance for what help you can access.

They offer support for a range of factors that may impact families, such as:

  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Parenting concerns
  • Financial advice
  • Behaviour management

An excellent form of support that families can access from before birth through to teenage years, is Early Help. It is another multi agency service which brings together people from a variety of different services and teams that work together to help improve situations for families.
